GREENFIELD – The annual pool party for dogs and their humans splashed in roughly $4,500 for a local organization that helps animals find homes.

Partners in Animal Welfare Society (P.A.W.S. Hancock) hosted the traditional event Aug. 10 at the Kathy Dowling Aquatic Center, the community pool in Riley Park. The party marks the closure of the pool for the season.

More than 90 dogs and 150 people attended. But if your tail wasn’t wagging at that party, there’s another event coming up to raise money for animal rescue.

P.A.W.S. in the Park is set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 25 at Riley Park.

Bring your furry friend for games, contests and prizes. Cost is $20 per dog and one human, and $3 per extra dog or human for $30 maximum. Dogs must show proof of rabies, Bordetella and distemper vaccines.
