Model home tour coming up in McCordsville

MCCORDSVILLE – Fischer Homes, an Indianapolis area builder, has announced the grand opening of a new model home in McCordsville.

Hampton Walk, a $50 million, 93-acre residential development near Geist in Hancock County , offers 20 floor plans starting at roughly $341,000. A grand opening event of one model home is set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday, Aug. 17 in which attendees can tour a decorated model. The address is 6046 Windsor Drive, McCordsville.

McCord Square, McCordsville’s future town center, is just across the street from Hampton Walk.

Airport master plan event Aug. 22

GREENFIELD — The Indianapolis Airport Authority invites the public to join in an open house about the airport’s master plan.

The event is 4-7 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Buck Creek Township Community Room, 5809 W. Airport Blvd., Greenfield. Learn more about the Sustainable Airport Master Plan at ind.com/mqjmasterplan.

The event is free and does not require registration.

Dining events to benefit soup kitchen

GREENFIELD – Dine to donate to the Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen in events Aug. 21.

Lincoln Square Pancake House in Greenfield and Fortville will donate a portion of proceeds to the soup kitchen. The Greenfield restaurant is at 118 W. Main St.; the Fortville restaurant is at 901 E. Broadway St.

Historical marker dedication set

GREENFIELD – A public dedication ceremony for an Indiana state historical marker commemorating the lynching of William Keemer is coming up at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 24.

The event will take place near 1821 E. Main St., Greenfield; parking is available at the Greenfield BMV.

The public is invited to attend the dedication for this historical marker that examines the evolution of race relations across the state. According to a press release from the Indiana Historical Bureau Division of the Indiana State Library, the lynching of William Keemer was one of several racial terror lynchings that occurred in Indiana from the mid-1800s to 1930.

The marker was completed through the efforts of a community coalition that included the Hancock County Historian, local business leaders, the Indiana Historical Bureau, descendants of William Keemer, the Beech Settlement, and Roberts Settlement, and other community partners. Book sale benefiting library coming up

GREENFIELD — The Friends of the Hancock County Public Library will host a gently used book sale Aug. 15–19 in the library’s Community Room in Greenfield. The Friends also offer audiobooks, DVDs, CDs and video games. Proceeds from the sale fund free concerts and children’s special events at the library.

On Aug. 15, members of the Friends may shop their members-only preview sale 6-7:30 p.m. Walk-ins can join the non-profit organization at a cost of $15 and shop the preview that night. Pick up a membership form on the Friends’ shelves near the entrance at either library building.

The sale is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 16; 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 17; and 1-3:30 p.m. Aug. 18. Most hardbacks are $1, and paperbacks are 50 cents. Children’s books are 50 cents and 25 cents. DVDs, CDs, video games and audiobooks are $1.

Bargain day is 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 19. A standard paper grocery bag full of books sells for $3, a plastic grocery bag for $2. The library is located at 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. For more, visit hcplibrary.org or call 317-462-5141.
