Lydia and Jaysen Lewis have been taking the same photo at the Indiana State Fair annually since 2014.

GREENFIELD – It may be a bit corny, but siblings Lydia and Jaysen Lewis have been taking the same photo at the Indiana State Fair every year since 2014.

Laura Lewis shares that the recent Mt. Vernon High School graduates have not missed a state fair since they came to live with her as foster children in 2014.

“We took them to their very first state fair,” Laura Lewis writes. “Lydia and Jaysen Lewis insisted that they get corn for one of their culinary treats. We took their picture that first year and have taken one every year (minus the year COVID canceled the fair) since.”

Now that they’re going their separate ways as young adults, they weren’t sure they’d be able to get a photo this year. Jaysen is serving in the United States Marine Corps in North Carolina, but due to a death in the family he was granted a few days leave to attend his great grandpa’s funeral.

They went to the state fairgrounds just before the fair opened to the public.

“Lydia and Audi, the youngest Lewis sibling, both participate in baking for the Family Arts division at the state fair,” Laura said. “We went to turn in their baked items and knew that most of the signs and vendors would be set up but not actually open, so we improvised and took our own Paxton Farms corn to snap the shot for 2024.”

The siblings both have a long history of exhibiting in 4-H and open class competitions at the state fair, alongside their siblings and their decorated baker grandma Deborah Green.
