Murder mystery event this fall

GREENFIELD – A murder mystery dinner event will come to downtown Greenfield once again this fall.

Due to the popularity of this spring’s event, Greenfield Main Street will host another murder mystery event. “I Love the ’80s to Death” will be at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at Bradley Hall Events. Tickets are $65. The event features a buffet-style dinner; come dressed in neon colors, hair teased, leg warmers and more. Soup kitchen to benefit from bowling fundraiser

GREENFIELD – The Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen will benefit from a bowling fundraiser this month.

Strike Force Lanes will host Strike out Hunger Aug. 25 at 1539 W. Main St., Greenfield. Form a bowling team at $25 per person. Bowling is 1-4 p.m. and the event also includes face painting, balloon twisting, silent auction, raffle and door prizes.

Book sale benefiting library coming up

GREENFIELD — The Friends of the Hancock County Public Library will host a gently used book sale Aug. 15–19 in the library’s Community Room in Greenfield. The Friends also offer audiobooks, DVDs, CDs and video games. Proceeds from the sale fund free concerts and children’s special events at the library.

On Aug. 15, members of the Friends may shop their members-only preview sale 6-7:30 p.m. Walk-ins can join the non-profit organization at a cost of $15 and shop the preview that night. Pick up a membership form on the Friends’ shelves near the entrance at either library building.

The sale is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 16, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 17, and 1-3:30 p.m. Aug. 18. Most hardbacks are $1, and paperbacks are 50 cents. Children’s books are 50 cents and 25 cents. DVDs, CDs, video games and audiobooks are $1.

Bargain day is 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 19. A standard paper grocery bag full of books sells for $3, a plastic grocery bag for $2. The library is located at 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. For more, visit hcplibrary.org or call 317-462-5141.

Support groups starting up at Wellspring

GREENFIELD – Support groups are coming up through Wellspring Center, starting Aug. 13.

Living Grace is a 15-week, faith-based support group for those living with a mental health difficulty or disorder. Family Grace is a group for families and loved ones of those with a mental health difficulty or disorder.

Breaking the Chains of Trauma for Women is a nine-week support group for women with trauma.

Starting Sept. 3 is Life’s Healing Choices for Women, a nine-week study that helps group members overcome and heal from any hurt, habit or hang-up.
