GREENFIELD, IN

Lenard Eldon “Butch” Lightle, 84, Greenfield, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at his farm with his loving family by his side. Butch was born on April 18, 1940, in Veedersburg, IN, to Kelso Ray and Elma (Helms) Lightle. He attended Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis. He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Susan Earline Camp, on February 15, 1957, at the young age of 16.

Joining their union of a young family, Butch and Susie welcomed their first daughter with much anticipation. In the following years, they proudly added three additional daughters to their bustling home. He adored his family. He loved being with them, around them, and celebrating with them. He was proud of them. His daughters were the joy of his life, and his grandchildren made his life complete. His wife was his soulmate, his princess, and his rock. Their love is one that most strive to find, and many enjoyed watching their love grow over the years. Especially, their children.

Butch was a simple man with eyes of the bluest skies. He was stoic and classy yet loved a good joke with his infectious laugh. His hands were strong, yet gentle. His heart was kind, giving and full of love. Whenever there was someone in need, he was there. He was extremely generous and unselfish. But, most importantly, he was a God-fearing man. Butch loved to golf, hunt, enjoy a good cigar, and a beer. He was an avid Pacers and Colts fan. He loved spoiling his dog, Vito, who was always by his side, especially at the dinner table. His farm was his heart and soul for 54 years.

Butch worked for over 30 years for Gene B. Glick Construction Company as Vice President of Construction. He was also employed by Hills Communities and retired from Herman Kittle as Project Superintendent at the young age of 77. He was a lifelong Endowment Member of the NRA, a member of the Shriners since 1970, and a Freemason since 1966, being the youngest Worshipful Master of the Veritas Lodge. His generosity knew no bounds from the Wheeler Mission to Wounded Warriors to his friends and neighbors.

He was baptized at Knightstown Christian Church on July 31, 1988. Butch and Susie attend and are members of Park Chapel Christian Church.

Butch is survived by his loving wife, Susie, of 67 years; their children: Tammi (Kevin) Roland, Tina (Tom) Smith, and TJ Lightle; grandchildren: Traci, Brandi, Nikki, Chad, Drake, Olivia, and Raina; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Sharon (Terry) Mercer; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tarri Lightle; grandsons, Jason Eldon Miller and Jackson Wyatt Smith; and sisters, Naydeane (Bob) Booe and Dee (Gene) Wilson.

Visitation will be on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Park Chapel Christian Church, 1176 East McKenzie Road, Greenfield, IN 46140.
