The McCord Square apartment complex has opened its doors for tenants as the development now pushes toward becoming McCordsville’s new town center.

The two completed buildings, the Lucas building and the Jackson building, include several amenities such as a pool, a gym and a rooftop patio between them for residents to use. The complex also has several amenities for the community planned, including commercial space on the first floor ready for tenants, with several businesses already having agreed to come in, green spaces with swings in between the buildings already constructed and several future developments planned for community use.

To the west of the apartment buildings, a plot of land is already cleared out to construct more green space with an amphitheater, which will sit just in front of the planned new city hall at the westernmost end of the development. A park will eventually be constructed to the south of the apartments.

Leading up to the apartments and eventual town center from the east is additional commercial space, which includes an IU health location “that will offer primary care, OB/GYN and cardiovascular services.” It will house 25 exam rooms, three operation rooms and an outpatient suite for patients in Hancock County. The IU Health location is set to open this fall. Several restaurants are set to open in the area as well.

Construction is ongoing in the area and will be for several years while the town center project continues.

The grand opening and ribbon cutting for McCord Square will take place on the evening of Oct. 3, with an open house beginning at 4 p.m.
