Hancock County engineer Gary Pool says construction in the county is well ahead of schedule.

Specifically, Pool says that the county’s paving and chip sealing projects, which typically last well into the fall, ending sometime between October and December, will be completed between late August and early September this year. Pool, who just discovered he’ll likely be short-staffed for the end of the year, says he’s glad that things got done so early while he still has people to do the work.

Pool says the county’s bridge construction projects are on schedule, and while he had hoped to accelerate one of the bridges, they currently expect to finish by the target date despite being short staff.
