Community Day returns to Cumberland Aug. 10

CUMBERLAND — The Cumberland Police Department will host Community Day, a free event celebrating community and public safety.

This family-friendly event is set for 3-5 p.m. Aug. 10 and features activities for all ages, including community partner booths with giveaways, an interactive Touch-a-Truck exhibit, public safety demonstrations, and a Junior Detective activity. Enjoy complimentary hotdogs, shaved ice, and face painting while exploring incredible community partners like IMPD Mounted Patrol, Sugar Creek Fire, Hancock County SWAT, the Red Cross, and many more.

Chocolate walk returns to downtown Greenfield

GREENFIELD – A sweet tradition hosted by the Greenfield Area Chamber of Commerce returns this August.

The 2024 Chocolate Walk is scheduled for 5-8 p.m. Aug. 9 in downtown Greenfield. Participants walk to local businesses and nonprofit organizations to sample gourmet or specialty chocolates.

The event sells out quickly; buy tickets at $20 at greenfieldcc.org. Sponsorship opportunities and vendor applications are still available.

Tire recycle event Aug. 10

GREENFIELD – Recycle tires at a free upcoming event, hosted by Recycle Hancock County.

The tire disposal event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 10 at Riley Park Tire, 801 e. Main St., Greenfield.

Bring a maximum of 12 tires. Passenger/light truck and smaller tires are only accepted on or off the rim. No commercial agricultural or farm tires are permitted.

Library to host drum circle

GREENFIELD — The Hancock County Public Library will host a drum circle at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 7. All ages are welcome to attend this event at the main library’s community room, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield.

Drum circles are a type of group drumming meant to promote community, learning, and equality. Participants are invited to learn a variety of rhythms and drumming techniques in a drum circle format. No experience is necessary.
