GREENFIELD, IN

James Kaye White, 78, Greenfield, passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 30, 2024, with his loving family by his side. James was born on April 10, 1946, in Greenfield, to Charles Owen and Anna Lucille (Wilson) White. He graduated from Hancock Central High School. On August 7, 1967, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He married the love of his life, Diane Marie Prescott, on April 21, 1972.

James continued his service to our country by finishing his 4-year term in the Air Force. Thereafter, he dedicated his services to the Army Air National Guard for 19 years while in Shelbyville, working in the maintenance and supply area. After retirement from the military, James went to work for the State Highway Department working on the paint crew. James loved his family to the fullest and spent every minute he could with them, often traveling the states to make his way to them. He had an interest in airplanes and trains. James could often be seen swinging shirtless on his front porch waving at passer-byers and listening for emergency personnel as they had their lights and sirens on tending to their duties. James and Diane were members of Bethel Baptist Church for many years.

James is survived by his loving wife Diane of 52 years; their children, Laura (Dewayne) Smith and Lisa (William) Watkins; grandchildren: Kayla, Emma, Owen, and Paityn; great-grandson, Liam James; and brothers: Larry, Richard, and Donald.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles and Ronald; and nephew, Robbie.
