Portrait exhibit coming to gallery

GREENFIELD — Portraiture in several mediums will be on display by award winning artists from Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Michigan, and Illinois.

The exhibition runs Aug. 9-31, at the Twenty North Gallery, home of Hancock County Arts, 20 N. State St., Greenfield. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. The opening reception is 5:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 9.

In conjunction with the exhibit, artists will be creating paintings and drawings of radio celebrity models from life at “A Face for Radio.” This event is 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at Bradley Hall Events venue, 2 W. Main St., Greenfield. Models include Ann Richards from B105, Mindy Winkler from HANK FM, Eliott King from WZPL, and Ann Payton from iHeart Radio. Art analysts Mary Ann Davis and Cynthia Young will interview the Portrait Society artists as they work. The event is open to the public to observe the artists as they work. MPD to host Community Day this week

MCCORDSVILLE – Join the McCordsville Police Department in its sixth annual Community Day this week.

Community Day is 5-8 p.m. this Friday at McCordsville Town Hall, 6280 W. 800N., McCordsville. Free hot dogs and popcorn will be on site, along with a chance to check out new police cars. Fire trucks will be available, along with Kona Ice, Libby’s Ice Cream, a game truck and bounce house.

WIC to host breastfeeding event

GREENFIELD – Hancock County WIC will host a World Breastfeeding Week event this week.

Libraries hosting events for adults

GREENFIELD – Local libraries are offering several events for Hancock County adults in the month of August.

Yoga is offered every Saturday excluding Aug. 24 at the Sugar Creek branch of the Hancock County Public Library in New Palestine.

The Greenfield HCPL offers a book club for adults Aug. 13; a writing group Aug. 15; and genealogy programs Aug. 14 and 21. The library will also host a three-part series on preparing for emergencies, on Tuesday evenings starting Aug. 13. Mobile blood drives coming up

HANCOCK COUNTY – Several mobile blood drives are coming up across Hancock County during the first two weeks of August.

In Greenfield, St. Michaels Catholic Church will host a drive Aug. 4; Hancock County Sheriff’s Department Aug. 9; Hancock Regional Hospital Aug. 16; and the Hancock County Public Library Aug. 17.

Drives in New Palestine include the Copperstone neighborhood Aug. 6 and Brookville Road Community Church Aug. 15.

On the west side of the county, Proportion Air in McCordsville will host a mobile blood drive Aug. 14. The Hancock County Wellness Center in McCordsville will also host a drive Aug. 14
