GREENFIELD – Change a Child’s Story Gala is coming up Aug. 8.

The event is hosted by Court Appointed Special Advocates of Hancock County and raises money through sponsorships and auctions. Guest speaker is Ashley Rhodes-Courter, a former foster youth who became a New York Times Bestselling author.

The event is at Daniel’s Vineyard, 9061 N. 700 W., McCordsville. Tickets are $50 per person, or $400 for a table of eight. Learn more at casahancockcountyin.org.

Bed race event returns in September

GREENFIELD – The Four Post 400 Bed Race Challenge returns this September.

Race a wheeled bed at the Hancock County Fairgrounds with a group of friends, coworkers or nonprofit organization. Additional prizes are given for best-decorated bed.

The event is a fundraiser for the Dale E. Kuhn American Legion Post 119. It is set for Sept. 14. Vendors open at 11 a.m., a presentation of the nations’ colors, pledge and invocation is at noon; Hometown Heroes will be at 1:15 p.m.; the Parade of Beds is at 12:30 p.m. and races start at 1 p.m. A cornhole tournament for all levels is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The legion is currently seeking sponsors for the event, ranging from $50 to $500. Those who want to participate can join for $75 if using one of the legion’s beds, or $50 by bringing your own bed. Send registration information and fees to American Legion, P.O. Box 96B, Greenfield. Registration should include a team name, members of the team and ages, and parents’ signature if under 18. Registration open for McCordsville run

MCCORDSVILLE – A run that benefits McCordsville’s community improvement program is around the corner. The 10th annual McCordsville Path to Fitness 5K is Aug. 10 and registration is open now.

The event is hosted by the town of McCordsville and will be at the Hancock Wellness Center in McCordsville. Proceeds from the 5K go to the Building a Brighter McCordsville fund through the Community Foundation of Hancock County. The fund provides grants to make park improvements and upgrades throughout the town.

Golf tournament to benefit EH foundation

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Registration is open for a golf tournament benefiting the Eastern Hancock Education Foundation.

Rummage sale starts Friday

McCORDSVILLE — A rummage sale is set for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at McCordsville United Methodist Church, 6247 W. Broadway, McCordsville.
