Chamber presents awards at Walk of Fame

GREENFIELD – The Community Walk of Fame highlighted several business and nonprofit leaders June 27.

The Greenfield Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the event. Honorees included Derek Rogers of Shepherd Insurance, businessman of the year; Kathy Hall of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, businesswoman of the year; Bentley’s Buddies and Friends, nonprofit of the year; Hart Summeier of Level Up Real Estate Group, entrepreneurial spirit of the year; Kelly Holden, Chamber Champion of the year; and Louise Thompson, ambassador of the year.

Rotarians recognize members for service

GREENFIELD – The Rotary Club of Greenfield recognized several of its members and leaders at a recent meeting.

Derek Rogers, outgoing president, was recognized with an award for his service, and also received a Distinguished Citizen Award from Mayor Guy Titus. A third generation Rotarian, Rogers oversaw two major fundraisers, initiated the club’s first March Madness Open House, supported the club’s inaugural talent show, implemented funds for the community’s bike share program, and inducted 13 new members.

Rogers swore in new president Hart Summeier for the 2024-2025 year.

Outgoing board members honored at the meeting were Linda Jones, Monica Price Kowalski, Rita Fish, Joe Duffy and Greg Hodge.

Outstanding service awards went to: Duffy, Rotarian of the Year; Jones, Spirit of Rotary Award; Kowaleski, Service Above Self Award; Kim Hall, Make It Happen Award; and Mike Hopper, Rising Star Award.

History event coming up

GREENFIELD – Learn about the historic Beech Settlement in an upcoming program.

The Hancock County Historical Society will give a free presentation at 3 p.m. July 28 at the Chapel in the Park in Riley Park. Speakers are Priscilla Phelps and Brian Jeffries. For more, visit hancockhistory.org.

Shrine club to host meeting

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County Shrine Club will host a meeting and a meal at 6:30 p.m. July 23. The event will be at the Hancock County Fraternal Order of Police, 400 E. Davis Road, Greenfield. Cost is $10 for the meal.

Greenfield Main Street seeks volunteers

GREENFIELD – Greenfield Main Street is looking for community volunteers to join the group.

Greenfield Main Street works to enhance the downtown area. Volunteers could help with marketing and image building, business promotions, special events and festivals, business retention programs, historic preservation and more. Leadership class applications open

GREENFIELD – Leadership Hancock County is now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 class. Applications are due no later than Aug. 13, and class size is limited. Visit www.LeadHC.org to complete and submit the application.

Leadership Hancock County strives to empower leaders through education and connections, cultivating growth in our community.

Class sessions are held once monthly from September 2024 to May 2025. Full day sessions include two retreat days, non-profit and community issues day, local business and agriculture day, history day, government day, servant leadership and situational leadership.

Leadership Hancock County was formed in 1996 under the care of Thomas Seng, CEO of Central Indiana Power and Nancy King, Hancock County home economist. They wished to create a leadership training opportunity for Hancock County that did not exist at the time. Leadership Hancock County has continued to grow and develop leaders in the community through classes, training, projects and more, according to a press release.

Gala for CASA Aug. 8

GREENFIELD – Change a Child’s Story Gala is coming up Aug. 8.

The event is hosted by Court Appointed Special Advocates of Hancock County and raises money through sponsorships and auctions. Guest speaker is Ashley Rhodes-Courter, a former foster youth who became a New York Times Bestselling author.

The event is at Daniel’s Vineyard, 9061 N. 700 W., McCordsville. Tickets are $50 per person, or $400 for a table of eight. Learn more at casahancockcountyin.org.

Chamber to host two upcoming events

GREENFIELD – The Greenfield Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting two upcoming events.
