Jerome “Jerry” Edward Rieskamp, 59, of Fortville, passed away at his home on June 27, 2024. He was born on September 6, 1964, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Jerry Rieskamp and Jacqueline (Longbottom) Schuyler.
Jerry was a 1982 graduate of Warren Central High School. He served in the United States Army and was part of the 82nd Airborne, the first of 505 P.I.R. He was the Warehouse Supervisor for IPS for 27 years before retiring in 2023. Jerry was a life-long drummer and performed with many bands including The Why Store, FUNHOUSE, Brenda Williams &Soul Providers, JD Marshall Band, and Spunj to name a few. Jerry was also the timekeeper for his family. He kept the beat and made things happen. He was a simple guy whose actions spoke as lovingly as his words. Jerry was known to give quirky yet sentimental nicknames. He loved his family selflessly and deeply. He adored his grandchildren and had a special bond with his dog “Baby Boy”. He was a classic car enthusiast, and he was especially proud of his 1995 Ford F250 diesel truck. A special thanks to Casey Ruggles for restoring the truck back that Jerry loved so much. Jerry enjoyed riding his motorcycles and collecting guns.
Jerry is survived by his wife Melissa (Fletcher) Rieskamp, whom he married on August 8, 2015. He is also survived by his parents Jerry (Dee) Rieskamp and Jacqueline (Michael) Schuyler; daughters Jordan (Cory) Rieskamp and Sarah Perry, both of Greenfield; his grandchildren Nevaeh JoLynn Hammons, Briggston Bain Rieskamp, Kymber Marie Haynie, and Sable Mae Rieskamp; his “2nd Mom: Carolyn Bain; siblings Jeff (June Etta) Rieskamp, Brian (Kim) Rieskamp, Brad (Rinnie) Rieskamp and Lisa Bain; step-siblings Frank (Melissa) Ingalls, Brandon Ingalls, Aimee Sabik, and Hollie (Phil) Putzback; 30 nieces and nephews; 25 great-nieces and nephews; and many more extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his son Joe Brady; siblings Dawn Schuyler, Christy Schuyler, Shawn Walker; and brother-in-law Chuck Fletcher.
A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at the HJ Ricks Centre for the Arts, 122 W. Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140, from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Jerry and his family extend their heartfelt appreciation to all the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at the Sue Ann Wortman Cancer Center in Greenfield for the sincere care and love they gave to Jerry and his family during his treatment.
