GREENFIELD, IN

Blanche Edith (Butler) Chaplin, 91, Greenfield, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024, at Morristown Manor. Blanche was born on November 19, 1932, in Elkhart, IN, to Ralph and Margaret (Mack) Butler. She attended Elkhart High School. On September 5, 1951, she married the love of her life, George F. Chaplin III.

Blanche loved to paint, cook, and watch old black and white Western movies. Her favorite movie star was John Wayne. She and George would often travel all over the country. When the grandchildren became older, they also joined grandma and grandpa on their adventures to Maine, Canada, and Florida. The love of the outdoors also transitioned into Blanche’s care at home as she tended to many flower gardens and could often be seen picking up sticks and clipping dandelions. She loved cats and dogs as well as all birds and could often be seen feeding our feathered friends. Like her late daughter, Chrissy, she also had a love for McDonald’s large Dt. Coke and medium French fries. Blanche could also be seen at Walmart on a daily basis shopping for anything and everything. Her faith and attendance at Fountaintown United Methodist Church was also very important. But, more importantly, was her family. Blanche and George were parents to many children who always kept them on their toes at all times. Blanche was a wonderful caretaker to her husband, George. Whenever the grandchildren had events, Blanche was the first in attendance.

She is survived by her children: George F. (Vicky Lawson-Chaplin) Chaplin IV, Charles E. Chaplin, and Cassandra E. (Shannon) Bromagen; 6 awesome grandchildren: Erin Waltz, Brianna Baker, Bailey Bowman, Nathen Bromagen, Kyrsten Chaplin, and Ian Chaplin; 3 adorable great-grandchildren: Forrest, Dylan, and Kennedy; and brother, Ralph Butler.

Blanche was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George F. Chaplin III; children: Victor “Rusty” Chaplin, Victoria Chaplin, and Chrissy Chaplin; and siblings: Harold “Bud” Butler, John Butler, Kenneth Butler, Donald Butler, Arthur Butler, Phyllis Estes, Sandra Harold, and Joanne Burns.
