County players earn all-state honors

New Palestine sophomore Jacob Morris earned Class 4A All-State recognition and seven other Hancock County baseball players received Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association Academic All-State honors in teams recently released by the association.

Morris was selected as the Class 4A second baseman. The sophomore led the Dragons with a .423 batting average and topped the Hoosier Heritage Conference with 34 RBI. He had seven doubles and a team-best two home runs.

New Palestine had four players selected to the Academic All-State team, twin brothers outfielder/pitcher Henry Thorpe and infielder/pitcher Michael Thorpe, first baseman/pitcher Ben Hirschy and catcher Jackson Kamp.

Mt. Vernon was represented by pitcher Cam Sullivan, the class valedictorian, and first baseman/outfielder Will Jacobs.

Greenfield-Central center fielder Kirk Knecht also made the team.
