Nourish & Nature classes continue

FORTVILLE – Two more Kids Nourish and Nature classes are coming up this summer in Vernon Township.

Classes hosted by Vernon Township and several other community organizations are targeted for children in first through third-grades. Kindness Rocks rock painting will be at 10 a.m. July 10 at the Vernon Township office, 602 Vitality Drive, Fortville. Learn about pollinators at 10 a.m. July 17 at Mt. Comfort Elementary School. Earlier this summer, children learned about composting and vegetable gardening; and exercise and nutrition.

G-C gala event scheduled

GREENFIELD – The annual Red Letter Gala supporting the Greenfield Central School Foundation is coming up this September.

The event is set for Sept. 28 with dinner, interactive displays from grant recipients, and a Wish Upon A Star display featuring future grant opportunities. New members of the G-C Alumni Hall of Fame also inducted at the event. Sponsorship opportunities are open now.

MV program applications open

FORTVILLE – Applications are open now for the 2024-2025 MV Ambassadors Program.

Learn about Mt. Vernon schools with eight Tuesday morning meetings throughout the year.

Cohorts of about 25 people will learn details of transportation, finance, special education, technology and more, visiting the preschool, an elementary school, Mt. Vernon Middle School and Mt. Vernon High School. For more information or to apply, visit mvcsc.k12.in.us/community/mv-ambassadors.

Caster named to dean’s list

GREENFIELD – Anna Caster of Greenfield was recently named to the dean’s list of Monmouth College for the spring 2024 semester.

To make the list, students need to take at least three academic credits and have a grade point average for the smeester of 3.5 or higher.

Located in Monmouth, Ill., Monnmouth College is a residential liberal arts college affiliated with the Presbyterian Church.

STEM grants for women available

INDIANAPOLIS – Women & Hi Tech, an Indianapolis-based nonprofit organization, is offering at least $55,000 this year in scholarships and grants to women in science, technology, engineering and math in Indiana.

The awards will be presented at the Leading Light Awards and Scholarship Gala in October. Women & Hi Tech is inviting women pursuing undergraduate or graduate STEM degrees to apply for scholarships and grants by the July 1 deadline. G-C grads earn ag scholarships

GREENFIELD – Two Greenfield-Central High School graduates recently received $1,000 scholarships from Keystone Cooperative, Inc.

Reese Hill and Katie Holmes were among the 54 recipients across Indiana of the program. The scholarships were awarded to high school seniors with an interest in agriculture who have been heavily involved in their communities. Applicants were selected based on academic performance, extra-curricular involvement and a passion for agriculture.
