Shoe giveaway this month

GREENFIELD – Changing Footprints will host its Back To School Shoe Giveaway event this month.

The giveaway is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both July 19 and 20 at Greenfield Christian Church, 23 N. East St., Greenfield. For more information and updates, visit facebook.com/changingfootprintshancock.

Community service course offered through foundation

GREENFIELD – A Mission Masters program is available through the Community Foundation of Hancock County, giving people a chance to network and understand how to serve on a community board.

The program takes place over the course of four months, August through November, with a celebration in January. Participants must be either a board-approved, incoming member of a community board of directors, or already serving on a board. Community members interested in serving on nonprofit boards are also welcome. Participants must be Hancock County residents and provide a written statement of support from their employer stating they will be permitted to take time to attend each virtual and in-person meeting.

Recycling event coming to McCordsville

MCCORDSVILLE — The town of McCordsville will host a Recycle Hancock County Collection Event this month.

Recycle electronics and shred documents from 9 a.m. to noon July 20 at McCordsville Town Hall, 6280 W. 800N., McCordsville. Cost of recycling electronics is $5 per carload, $5 for each TV smaller than 32 inches and computer monitors; $10 for larger TVs; and $20 for projection screen TVs. Document shredding is free. The event is also collecting donations of shoes and non-perishable foods.

Nourish & Nature classes continue

FORTVILLE – Two more Kids Nourish and Nature classes are coming up this summer in Vernon Township.

Classes hosted by Vernon Township and several other community organizations are targeted for children in first through third-grades. Kindness Rocks rock painting will be at 10 a.m. July 10 at the Vernon Township office, 602 Vitality Drive, Fortville. Learn about pollinators at 10 a.m. July 17 at Mt. Comfort Elementary School. Earlier this summer, children learned about composting and vegetable gardening; and exercise and nutrition.
