Creed graduates from youth academy

KNIGHTSTOWN – Ethan Creed of Hancock County was among 75 youth from 32 counties to recently graduate from the Indiana Hoosier Youth Challenge Academy.

The program is based in Knightstown and has graduated 2,600 students since 2007. HCYA offers military-based training to at-risk youth ages 16-18 who have not yet graduated from high school.

The free program offered by the Indiana National Guard is not used for recruitment. Rather, HYCA trains and mentors youth to develop the values, skills, education and self-discipline to become successful young adults.

Walker earns scholarship from credit union

GREENFIELD – Linnea Katherine Walker recently earned $1,500 to support her higher education.

The scholarship came from Eastern Indiana Federal Credit Union, which awards two area students with scholarships annually. The scholarships are open to high school seniors and current college students who are members of EIFCU. Walker recently graduated from Greenfield-Central High School. Universities announce honor students, graduates

HANCOCK COUNTY – Several students with Hancock County ties were recently honored by colleges and universities.

Franklin College announced students on the president’s list for having earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average while completing at least 2 credit hours: Jocelyn Duncan of Wilkinson and Allison Lowe of Greenfield were both named to the list. Franklin’s dean’s list for students with a GPA of 3.5 to 3.9 included Brayden Marrow, New Palestine; Ezra Schwier, New Palestine; and Samuel Wilson, Greenfield.

Franklin College’s 2024 graduates included Jocelyn Marie Duncan of Wilkinson, who earned a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education; she graduated cum laude. Bennett Lawrence Schaffter Hanson of New Palestine earned a bachelor of arts degree in computer science. Charles Walker Moore of McCordsville earned a bachelor of arts degree in business management.

The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Named three local students to the dean’s list for earning a GPA of at least 3.5: Cole Gwin, Greenfield; Sterling Hibdon, McCordsville; and Kendyl Bettenhausen, McCordsville. The president’s list at UA included Mason Mounts, Fortville and Andrea Hayes, McCordsville; the list is for a GPA of 4.0. Graduates from UA included Cole Gwin, Greenfield, with a bachelor of science in nursing; and Andrea Hayes, McCordsville, bachelor of science in human environmental sciences.

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College named several local students to honor lists: Abby Worley, Greenfield, earned dean’s list highest honors; Anneliese Weilhammer, Greenfield, dean’s list honors; Brian Owens, Greenfield, dean’s list high honors; and Christina Keene, Greenfield, dean’s list honors.

Manchester University named the following students to the dean’s list for earning at least a 3.5 GPA in the spring semester: Madison Stamm, Fortville; Sean Julian, Greenfield; Ethan Hollis, Greenfield; Garrett Hollis, Greenfield; and Gary Rincones, Greenfield.

Bradley University in Peoria, Ill. named Hunter Poehlein of McCordsville to its dean’s list for a GPA of at least 3.5.
