County fair continues this week

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County 4-H Fair continues this week in the second half of the new 10-day schedule.

The midway will feature bounce houses this week, which are open from 4-9 p.m. daily. Commercial vendors are open from 5-9 p.m. daily.

Live evening entertainment includes The Carl Bently Band and a Draft Horse Pull Monday; Southern Distinction and Donkey Ball Tuesday; Eastern Wing Band, a rodeo and Stella Luna and the Satellites Wednesday.

4-H animal shows include poultry, dairy cattle and beef Monday; goats, beef and animal showmanship Tuesday; and sheep Wednesday. The youth pedal pull is at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Free groceries, school supplies at upcoming event

GREENFIELD – A Back to School Block Party is coming up from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Greenfield-Central High School, 810 N. Broadway St., Greenfield.

The event is hosted by Realife Church and features free groceries, school supplies, haircuts, children’s shoes, family photos and lunch. A Kids Zone is available for play.

Chili cookoff fundraiser this weekend

GREENFIELD – A chili cookoff this month will benefit a nonprofit for victims of domestic violence.

Shelter from the Storm Inc. will host a Chili Cook Off fundraiser at 5 p.m. Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church, 515 Jefferson Blvd., Greenfield. Tickets range from $1 to $41, based on age and level of participation; a professional entry fee option is also included. Learn more at sftsinc.com.
