Albert (Bert) William Heiman, III, 71, of Anderson, passed away unexpectedly on June 12, 2024. He was born on May 22, 1953, in Anderson, Indiana, where he lived all his life.

Bert graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at General Motors Institute and a master’s degree in engineering at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). He worked at Allison Gas Turbine Division of General Motors in Indianapolis until they were sold to Rolls Royce. He continued to work for Rolls Royce-Allison until he retired in 2020. His career spanned 49 years until his siblings convinced him it was ok to allow others to continue his work and enjoy life as a retiree.

Bert was a member of the Church of God International but enjoyed listening to church services online from various denominations. He bowled in leagues for many years and loved following his favorite sports. He was a trivia enthusiast and enjoyed dog sitting for various friends. In retirement, he loved to watch and play the stock market with varying results. He was a walker and tried to get 10,000 steps in each day.

Bert is survived by his loving siblings, John Heiman of Fishers, IN, Jane (Michael) Sternemann of Davisburg, MI, James (Lynn) Heiman of Clarkston, MI and Carol (Lance) Onken of Brownstown, IN. He also leaves nine nieces and nephews as well as 13 great nieces and nephews, with another one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert William, Jr. and Dorothy K. Heiman.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 16, 2024, 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes &Crematory, Anderson, IN.

Services will be Monday, June 17, at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Luke Onken officiating.

Burial will take place at the Anderson Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
