GREENFIELD – Greenfield’s much-anticipated summer concert series at Depot Street Park kicks off next weekend.

This marks the third year for the Greenfield Parks Department’s two concert series: Entertainment at Depot Street Park on Friday nights and Live @ The Rails on Saturday nights.

Other concerts are also scheduled to take place at the park throughout the summer.

Each of the parks department’s concerts will have a patriotic start as a 12-by-18-foot American flag unfurls from above the stage and a local singer performs the national anthem.

Also new this year is an enhanced speaker system that hangs over the stage, sending the sound further toward the back of the park.

“It’s a more robust sound system to go along with a bigger lineup,” said Josh Gentry, maintenance operations manager for the parks department.

Gentry said the concert lineups have gotten better and better each year since the first season debuted in 2022.

Several A-list bands throughout the country have been booked to headline this year, including tribute bands covering Taylor Swift, Neil Diamond, the Eagles, Elvis and the Dave Matthews Band.

Assistant parks director Julie Patterson said the opening acts have also been scheduled, including a number of regional acts and solo performers.

Steel Petals will kick off the the season’s first concert June 14, opening up for The Traveling Salvation Show. Steel Petals features Tim Wright of the Wright Brothers, which has a big following in Greenfield.

Christian Terry, who was a golden ticket winner on American Idol, is the opener June 28.

The RoundUps, a Western-themed band, will open up for Elvis impersonator Brooke Wright on July 12.

Regional favorite Project 19 will return to the Depot Street stage to headline the Fleetwood Mac tribute show July 20.

The Vinyl Escape Trio opens the show July 26 for the similarly named band, 45 RPM.

Blackjack Davey will kick off the Aug. 9 show, featuring the Jason Aldean Experience while The Hunter Lee Band opens for the AC/DC tribute band — Thunderstruck — on Aug. 31.

On Sept. 7, The Ripple Effect Band opens for the Flying Toasters.

Later that month, The Hired Guns opens for Eagles tribute band 7 Bridges Road on Sept. 21. Hired Guns features guitarist Benito Dibartoli, an Indianapolis musician who has played with Eddie Money and Lou Grant.

At the Blues Fest on Aug. 23, blues performers Tad Robinson and The Blackjack Davey Band will pay tribute to the legendary Gene Deer, who was scheduled to perform that night but passed away earlier this year.

While some of this year’s headliners hail from other parts of the country, Patterson said the majority of opening acts are from the greater Indianapolis area.

All the performers scheduled to sing the national anthem before each concert are local, she said.

Incoming Eastern Hancock High School freshman Emma Stanley will kick off the new patriotic tradition at the debut concert June 14.

All concerts start at 6 p.m., with the headliner or dual headliner starting at 7:30 p.m.
