GREENFIELD — Roughly 90 ferrets will converge upon the Hancock County Fairgrounds this Saturday, June 8 for the Ferret 500 — an all day, family friendly event to raise funds for a nearby animal rescue.

This is the 11th year for the Ferret 500, which is hosted by Five Points Ferret Refuge and sanctioned by the American Ferret Association.

This year’s event is sponsored by the Hancock County Tourism Board and will feature ferret-themed games, food, prizes, vendors and a silent auction as ferrets compete in prospective classes in pursuit of being awarded Best in Show.

The fundraiser starts at 9:30 a.m. at the Hancock County Fairgrounds, at 620 Apple St. in Greenfield. Only registered ferrets are allowed in the show hall.

Admission is $12 per family or $6 for adults and $2 for children. Children under 7 are free.

Five Points Ferret Refuge is a nonprofit ferret shelter on the southeast side of Indianapolis. For more information, visit fivepointsferretrefuge.org.
