Volunteers requested for Pennsy Trail maintenance

HANCOCK COUNTY – Volunteers are needed to help clear honeysuckle and other species along the Pennsy Trail.

Pennsy Trails of Hancock County will remove honeysuckle around the wildflower areas at 424 S. 400W., Greenfield from 9 a.m. to noon June 15. Bring work gloves, hand tools and drinking water.

There is also a United Way National Volunteer Day opportunity from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 24 at the same site, to continue to remove honeysuckle and burn honeysuckle that has already been cut. For more email [email protected] or visit pennsytrails.org.

Financial emergency meeting set

GREENFIELD – Learn how to be prepared for a financial emergency at a training event June 6.

The Hancock County Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD) will host a session on document safeguarding, creating a family emergency communication plan and more. The free event is at 7 p.m. June 6 at the Emergency Operations Center, 640 S. Franklin St., Greenfield. For details, visit hancockcoad.org.

Kids cooking camp available

GREENFIELD – A kids cooking camp for students in kindergarten through seventh grade is coming up in June.

The FCCLA program at Greenfield-Central High School will host the camp from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 11-13 at G-CHS. Students will learn basic culinary skills ranging from basic safety to how to plate and garnish. Cost is $60 and includes a chef hat, apron and food. Email [email protected] for an application.

Church to host movie event

CUMBERLAND – A free community movie night is coming up June 7.

“The Case for Christ” will be shown at 7 p.m. at Buck Creek Baptist Church, 135 Muessing Road, Cumberland.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and there will be hot dogs, popcorn, candy and water available.
