Island Mixtape, Chalkfest coming to New Pal

NEW PALESTINE – All ages and artistic abilities are welcome at the Sugar Creek Chalkfest, featuring live music by Island Mixtape.

The free event is from 5-7 p.m. June 6 at the Sugar Creek Branch of the Hancock County Public Library, 5731 W. U.S. 52, New Palestine. Meet on the patio to create chalk art, enjoy lawn games and music for the whole family. There is no registration required for the drop-in program; in case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved indoors.

Island Mixtape features steelpans and congas, keyboard and vocals with vacation playlist music.

National Trails Day Saturday

NEW PALESTINE – Celebrate National Trails Day with an event along the Pennsy Trail June 1.

Pennsy Trails of Hancock County is hosting an 8 a.m. walk and ride, starting at the trailhead at 424 S. 400W., Greenfield. A scavenger hunt will be 9-11 a.m. For details and updates, visit facebook.com/PennsyTrailsofHancockCounty.

Canvas painting animal fundraiser Sunday

GREENFIELD – Paint your pet in a fundraiser event for Partners in Animal Welfare Society.

P.A.W.S. is hosting Paint Your Pet from 5-7:30 p.m. June 2 at Wooden Bear Brewing Co., 21 W. North St., Greenfield. Cost is $45 and includes a pre-sketched canvas with your pet. Advanced tickets are required at pawshancock.org.

Gardening program June 9 at HCPL

GREENFIELD – Learn about sustainable gardening in a free educational event coming up.

The Master Gardeners Green Thumb Project will host an event on gardening from 9:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. June 8 at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. Topics include gardening for health; gardening tools for people with disabilities or who are getting older; paper towel gardening and hands-on learning for kids. Painting events coming to downtown Greenfield

GREENFIELD — Downtown Greenfield will celebrate art June 8 in the Plein Air Paint-Out and Will Vawter Juried Exhibition and Art Sale. Both events are hosted by Hancock County Arts; the paint-out invites anyone to paint outdoors with a chance to win cash prizes while the exhibition will artistic display pieces at the Twenty North Gallery in downtown Greenfield. Both events are in memory of local resident Will Vawter, who painted landscapes working outside an in a French-influenced Impressionist style in the early 1900s. Florist to host car show fundraiser

GREENFIELD – An upcoming car show a local business will raise money for a charity.

The second annual Penny’s Florist Car Show and Summer Open House is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 8 at 80 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. The event raises money for Zoey’s Place Child Advocacy Center.

The event is $20 entry fee for cars to participate, but free for the community to join in. Food trucks will be on site and a nonprofit fair will be available. Register by calling 317-462-5863 or stop in at the business
