CHARLOTTESVILLE
Freida E. Johnson, 92, of Charlottesville passed away on Thursday May 23, 2024. She was born on April 8, 1932 in Greenfield to the late Charles Raymond and Hazel Marie (Estelle) McCorkle.
She was a Godly woman that loved going to church. Freida was a 62 year member of the Knightstown Church of God. She also enjoyed visiting other Churches and listening to their music. Freida retired from Indiana Knit Wear after 46 years and continued to work in the cafeteria at Weston Elementary School in Greenfield. Freida cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren; they would all ride around town on their bikes. Freida loved crocheting and working out every day at the Greenfield Senior Center.
Freida is survived by her children, Ronald (Vicki) Johnson and Norma (Charles) Fleshman; grandchildren, Theresa Johnson, Christy Lynn (Jason) Work, Elizabeth (Gregory) Whitfield and Ronald Johnson II; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sisters-in-law, Mert McCorkle, Anna Sue Johnson, Doris Masters and Edna Mae (Charles) Ryan; brothers-in-law, Randall (Susie) Johnson and James Lee Johnson; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Freida is preceded in death by her husband, Ewell Johnson; great granddaughter, Allyson Harris; 5 brothers and 5 sisters.
Services will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday May 30, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Randy Gross officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Memorial contributions can be given to the Knightstown Church of God.
