MVHS ranks highest in county based on new report

FORTVILLE – Mt. Vernon High School has been named to one of the “Best High Schools” based on U.S. News and World Report for 2024.

MVHS was named in the top 40% of the nation’s high schools; it’s now ranked No. 47 within Indiana and No. 15 in the Indianapolis metropolitan area.

The 2024 edition of the Best High Schools includes a numerical ranking of nearly all public high schools nationwide, almost 18,000 of them.

New Palestine High School was ranked No. 82 in Indiana; Greenfield-Central High School was listed No. 132 in the state; Eastern Hancock High School was ranked No. 175 in the state. Rankings are based on advanced placement coursework and exams; AP participation rate; minority enrollment; student-teacher ratio, graduation rates and more.

Several blood drives scheduled locally

GREENFIELD – Mobile blood drives are coming up in Hancock County this month.

Hancock Wellness Center in Greenfield is hosting a drive May 16, while the New Palestine wellness center will host a drive May 28. Wooden Bear Brewing will host a drive May 25.

On the northwest side of the county, Fortville Christian Church will host a drive May 20 and McCordsville United Methodist Church will host a drive May 23.

McCordsville to host markets, car shows

MCCORDSVILLE – The town of Mccordsville will host community events on Sundays this summer and fall.
