GREENFIELD — According to a press release, Republican candidate for Representative of District 53 Kevin Mandrell received endorsement from former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich.
Gingrich, known for his leadership in Republican politics, said he believes Mandrell will be a great State Representative that Indiana deserves.
“I fondly remember my time around Kevin Mandrell,” said Gingrich in the press release. “Kevin’s experience and leadership during his time on the Arthritis Foundation Board alongside my daughter demonstrated his ability to lead and leverage his business expertise. He will be an excellent choice for this role.”
According to the press release, alongside Gingrich’s time as Speaker of the House of Representatives and his contributions to conservative policy initiatives, he is a regular guest on conservative television segments, such as Fox News.
Mandrell expressed his gratitude for Gingrich’s support, stating in the press release, “I am grateful for the kind words from Speaker Gingrich. His long history in Republican politics and policy is admirable. He championed many conservative policies throughout his career.”
According to the press release, the daughter of Gingrich, Kathy Gingrich Lubbers, served with Kevin Mandrell on the National Arthritis Foundation Board and during that time the organization was undergoing changes reorganizing the national structure. Lubbers and Mandrell navigated the board during those times to improve the organization.
Lubbers added a statement regarding Mandrell’s candidacy in the press release stating, “I’ve been around politics for a long time with my father’s roles, and you can quickly identify leaders. Having worked first hand with Kevin, I can tell you that electing him would be a strong investment for the future of the community. My father and I are glad to support Kevin.”
The press release said that Gingrich’s support adds to the long list of conservative Republicans and local community leaders who are confident in Mandrell’s experience and leadership to represent District 53.
