New Palestine got second in its pool, and reached the tournament semifinals before losing to Whiteland in the consolation game of the Southport Boys Volleyball Invitational Saturday.
New Palestine (8-10) went 1-1 in pool play, beating Warren Central 2-0 (25-10, 25-12) and falling to Westfield 2-0 (25-15, 25-9).
In the tournament quarterfinals, New Palestine avenged a loss from earlier in the week with a 2-1 (10-25, 25-15, 15-12) victory over Lutheran. In a semifinal rematch with Westfield, the Dragons lost 2-0 (25-15, 25-14).
In the consolation contest, NP was defeated 2-1 (21-25, 25-23, 15-7) by Whiteland, a team the Dragons will host Thursday.
Last Thursday, the Dragons lost at Lutheran 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-19).
In that match, Chase Emberton led the attack with nine kills.
Maguire Gross, Eli Greene, Daysen Wood and Emberton each had two service aces.
Greene added a pair of solo blocks. Engle, the team’s setter, was part of three blocks and had 18 assists. Eli Martin had 16 digs.
Prior to the rematch with Whiteland Thursday, the Dragons travel to Shelbyville today.
