INDIANAPOLIS
83, of Indianapolis, passed away March 3, 2024. He was born April 7, 1940 in Logansport, Indiana, to the late George C. and Marie (Tevlin) Strecker. Charles was a graduate of Logansport High School. He received his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Ball State University in Art Education. Charles married Sharon K. Messick in 1965. He was an Art Educator for Warren Township Schools, starting his career at Woodview and Creston, and ending his 37 year teaching career at Stonybrook Jr. High School. He was also a photographer for Indiana School Pictures in the summers.
Charles was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at Ball State University and a lifetime member of the National Education Association. He was a member of St. Thomas Church in Fortville.
Charles is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Sharon K. Strecker; children, Kimberly Schafstall and Darren Strecker; and granddaughters, Grace and Emily Schafstall. Final arrangements and care are entrusted to Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel. www.shirleybrothers.com.
