GREENFIELD – Greenfield Parks and Recreation will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the rebuilding of the Riley Park Shelter House at 2 p.m. Friday.
The original structure burned Dec. 28, 2022 and the building was deemed a total loss. The new shelter, financially supported by the city of Greenfield and its agents, will strongly resemble the building that was once there and will even contain some original materials that were salvaged from the ashes of the fire.
Commemorative bricks are being sold in conjunction with the rebuild to line a walkway leading to the new structure. The campaign is called “Give Me Shelter” and bricks can be purchased for $50 with a custom inscription; visit parksingreenfield.com for details.
