YORKTOWN — Mt. Vernon had 10 players score and finished its boys basketball regular season with five straight victories, with a 59-33 win at Yorktown Friday.
The Marauders are 15-8 overall and end Hoosier Heritage Conference play in second place with a 6-1 record. Yorktown is 12-10 and 1-6, tied for seventh in the HHC.
Mt. Vernon jumped out early and led the Tigers 14-2 after the opening period.
Junior Tanner Teschendorf had seven of his team-high 11 points in the first quarter.
The Marauders grew their lead to 30-10 at halftime and doubled-up Yorktown heading into the final quarter, 44-22.
Following Teschendorf, sophomore guard Elijah Parra had nine points on three triples.
Post players Tyler Davis and Max Vise had eight and seven points, respectively.
Charlie Cross followed with six points and Aden Daugherty scored five.
R’mani Wells and Julien Smith each had four points. Brady Fitzgerald scored three points and Luke Ertel had two.
Mt. Vernon plays rival New Palestine at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the first game of the Greenfield-Central Sectional.
