Children’s theater applications available

GREENFIELD – Applications are available now for this summer’s Hancock County Children’s Theater.

Children currently in grades 4-8 interested in acting, singing, dancing, art or theater tech are encouraged to apply. The summer program runs June 3-29 at Greenfield-Central High School; this year’s production is “Wagon Wheels West.”

Arts, rummage sale coming up Feb. 24

GREENFIELD – The annual Arts & Rummage Sale is coming up Feb. 24, raising money for a local organization and providing entertainment throughout the day. The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Hancock County Fairgrounds, 620 N. Apple St., Greenfield. Admission is 41; children 12 and under get in free. Booth space is available for $50 by emailing [email protected]. Lunch and snack foods are available for purchase.

Proceeds benefit KidsPlay Inc., a nonprofit children’s theater organization that produces two plays a year.

Youth art exhibits this week

GREENFIELD – This week offers unique opportunities to view artwork from Hancock County’s youngest artists.

The Hancock County Elementary School Art Exhibit will be on display through Feb. 24 at 20 N. State St., Greenfield. Regular gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Thursdays and Saturdays. Learn more at hancockcountyarts.org.

The Sugar Creek branch of the Hancock County Public Library is hosting a Tiny Art Show Feb. 24, featuring pieces by local children and teens.

The show can be viewed from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 24 at 5731 W. U.S. 52, New Palestine.

Library storytime switching to ticket system

GREENFIELD – Changes are coming to children’s storytimes at the Hancock County Public Library.

The HCPL recently announced that starting the week of March 4, advanced registration will no longer be required. Arrive early each storytime session to get a ticket for entrance.

Storytimes for babies, toddlers and preschoolers are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in Greenfield; the Sugar Creek branch in New Palestine also offers storytimes on Wednesdays. For more information, visit hcplibrary.org or call 317-462-5141 ext. 238.

Spring break art camp scheduled

GREENFIELD – Make art inspired by music in a Spring Break Art Mini Camp for children.

The camp, hosted by Greenfield Parks & Recreation Art Studio, is for students in grades kindergarten through sixth. It is 5:30-7:30 p.m. March 26-28 in the lower level of the Patricia Elmore Center at Riley Park.

Pre-registration is required at parksingreenfield.com/youth-programs. Cost is $75 for Greenfield residents, $80 for non-residents.
