James “Jim” Paul Merchant II, 79, of Knightstown passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Springhurst Legacy Place in Greenfield. He was born October 18, 1944 in New Castle the son of James Paul and Vera (Brooks) Merchant.Jim was a 1962 graduate of Knightstown High School. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and a Masters Degree from Ball State University. He taught at Dennis Jr. High School in Richmond for 35 years. Jim enjoyed collecting old pocket knives.He is survived by his brother, Terry Merchant of Knightstown.Jim was preceded in death by his parents.Services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 – 1 PM prior to the service.
