GREENFIELD
Melvin Wayne “Slim” Curry, 87 of Greenfield, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. He was born on July 9, 1936, in New Palestine, Indiana. Slim graduated from New Palestine High School with the Class of 1954. He married, Carole Lynn Wierman on July 12, 1958, in Indianapolis.
Slim grew up on his family farm and began working at a very young age, which greatly contributed to his life-long hard work ethic. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the Indianapolis Teamsters #135. Slim was a true family man and could often be found watching a variety of sports which included, NASCAR, IndyCar, the Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Colts, or the Cincinnati Reds.
Slim is survived by his children, Robin (Randy) Adams of Fairfield, Ohio; Lynne (Tracy) Riley of Greenfield; Tricia Curry of Greenfield; brother, Jim Wampner of Valparaiso; sister, Becky Harter of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren with two more on their way. He is preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Wampner; wife, Carole Curry; and sister, Linda Stewart.
Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 3:00pm to 4:00pm at Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory, 1484 W. US 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 4:00pm. Military Honors will be presented by the United States Army. The family encourages friends &family to wear your favorite team attire to the services, which is what Slim would have wanted.
