NEW CASTLE – Eastern Hancock’s boys basketball team had its three-game winning streaks, both overall and in the Mid-Eastern Conference, come to an end Tuesday with a 55-45 loss at Blue River Valley.

Eastern Hancock is 10-9 overall and 5-3 and in fourth place in the MEC. Blue River Valley improved to 8-11 and 4-4.

On Tuesday, Blue River got out to a 20-8 lead after one and were on top 34-21 at halftime. Eastern Hancock was able to cut the lead to 10, 41-31, heading into the final quarter.

Kayden Ruble led Eastern Hancock scorers with 13 points.

Seven different Royals got in the scoring column. Luke Schilling hit the Royals only 3-point field goal and finished with eight points. Luke Morris scored eight, including 4-for-4 at the free-throw line.

Caiden Willis contributed six points. Garrett Shaw and Eli Manship had four points each. Charlie Halcomb scored two points.

Blue River Valley had three players score in double figures. Landan Gibson led the Vikings with 13 points. Zach McAbee scored 12 and Ethan Blackburn added 11 points.

The Vikings have won four straight games. Their final MEC game is Friday, at home, against Wes-Del (5-12, 3-5).

The Royals wrap up conference play at Union Modoc (3-11, 0-6) Friday.

Eastern Hancock will be on the road again, Feb. 20, at Liberty Christian before finishing the season at home against Hagerstown on Feb. 23.
