INDIANAPOLIS — The Greenfield-Central group of Alyssa Osborn, Selah Vahle, Cece Duffy Johnson and Rachel Stutz finished seventh in the 200-yard freestyle relay at the IHSAA Girls Swimming and Diving State Finals at the IU Natatorium Saturday.

The seventh-place finish — with a time of 1:37.78 — was the best for a G-C state meet participant in Emily Logan’s 12 seasons as the team’s head coach. Logan’s team won an 11th straight sectional title last week and added another Hoosier Heritage Conference championship earlier this season. The team went undefeated in dual meets, set school records in seven of 12 events, six sectional records and two HHC records.

Voted on by her peers at Saturday’s state finals, Logan was named the 2024 IHSAA Coach of the Year.

Along with the strong performance from the relay team, Greenfield-Central had four others in Saturday’s consolation finals.

As a team, G-C finished 13th in the state with 47 points.

The quartet of Osborn, Vahle, Johnson and Stutz added an 11th place finish in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:32.87. On Friday, in the state prelims, the group swam a school record 3:31.59.

Osborn swam in two other individual events. She was 13th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.10, and 14th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:08.52. In Friday’s prelims, Osborn swam a school-record time of 2:06.69.

Stutz was 13th in the 100 freestyle with a time of 52.35 seconds.

New Palestine’s Isabelle Tull was 21st in the diving competition with 168.55 points.
