GREENFIELD
Brenda Kay (Wheeler) Mize, age 77, of Greenfield, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Hancock Regional Health. She was born in Senath, Missouri on July 24, 1946, to Elzie and Verdie (Austin) Wheeler. She graduated from Greenfield High School in 1964 and received her associate degree in accounting from Ivy Tech Community College in 1987. She worked for Emmett J. Bean Finance Center as an accountant for 27 years before retiring in 2014. Brenda was a member of Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Greenfield. She loved to read and sit on the porch and watch hummingbirds. Brenda cherished spending time with her family. She was a huge fan of George Strait, Reba McEntire, Jason Crabb, and Alabama.Brenda is survived by her children, Harold (Missy) Mize and Michelle Mize; grandchildren, Karee (Rebekah) Mize, Austin (Olivia) Gossett, Jacob (Nicole) Mize, and Spencer Gossett; great-grandchildren, Brandt Gossett, Grayson Gossett, Carson Gossett, and Baby Gossett coming May 2024; brothers, Donald Wheeler and Joe Wheeler; Raymond Mize; dogs, Snuggles, Pepper, and Maggie; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elzie and Verdie Wheeler; sisters, Donna Jean, who passed at age 2, and Barbara Ann, who passed at age 7; and brother, Vernon Wheeler.Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. with viewing one hour prior to the service at the mortuary.
