New display from artist coming to HCPL

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County Public Library will unveil a new, permanent display in the children’s room at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

The library’s fish tank was recently removed, and the display area – which is at the entrance of the children’s room and can be seen from the main entrance – has been covered and “under construction.”

While library officials are not yet announcing what the new display will be, the event Feb. 1 will allow participants to “be among the first to see the new display at the entrance to the children’s room and learn all about its creation from a talented (and nationally known) local artist. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the process of creating this permanent fixture that will inspire and spark the imaginations of patrons for years to come.”

Elks invites community to benefit euchre nights

GREENFIELD – Greenfield Elks will host weekly euchre tournaments to benefit the Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen.

The events are open to the public every Monday at 5:30 p.m.; games start at 6 p.m. with a $6 buy-in. Payouts are for first- through third-place winners and most loans. The club is located at 820 S. State St., Greenfield.

Financial education classes offered

FORTVILLE – Another session of Faith & Finances is opening up through Love INC of Greater Hancock County.

The free financial education series includes dinner and childcare. Meetings are Tuesday evenings in February and March at Mercy Road Church-Northeast, 611 Vitality Drive, Fortville.

Zumba offered through Greenfield Parks

GREENFIELD – Adult Zumba classes are available through Greenfield Parks and Recreation.

The exercise dance classes will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays in the Patricia Elmore Center, 280 N. Apple St., Greenfield. Wine tasting fundraiser Feb. 10

GREENFIELD – A local club is encouraging you to “pour your heart out” in an upcoming wine event.

The Tri Kappa Wine Tasting Event is 4-7 p.m. Feb. 10 at The Lodge at Nameless Creek Camp in Greenfield.

All proceeds go toward the club’s mission of assisting local agencies in charity, culture and education. The group supports the Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen, Hancock Hope House, Boys and Girls Club of Hancock County, The Landing, Imagination Library and more.

The event will include hors d’oeuvres, a wine pull, entertainment by local saxophonist Jerry Bell. Cost is $50 for five wine tastings, or $25 for a designated driver ticket.

School calendar feedback sought

GREENFIELD – Greenfield-Central Community Schools is seeking feedback on the proposed 2025-26 school calendar.
