New website highlights county business opportunities

GREENFIELD – A new website offers prospective employers and residents a glimpse of the highlights of Hancock County.

The Hancock Economic Development Council launched a new website Dec. 22 that features development-ready sites, business incentives, community profiles, and information on the housing, education and community life of Hancock County. The website, hancockedc.com, is a complete overhaul of the previous site.

The Hancock Economic Development Council’s goal is to champion local enterprises and spearhead initiatives spanning entrepreneurship, workforce development, housing and site development to fortify Hancock County’s economy.

Children’s choir open to new members

HANCOCK COUNTY – The Hancock County Children’s Choir will accept new members this month.

Openings are available in all ensembles for children ages 5-18 for the spring semester. The group rehearses Monday afternoons at Mount Comfort Church; a concert will be April 6.

Assessments begin Jan. 8 and there is a $10 fee for the assessment. For more information, visit hancockcountychildrenschoir.org.

Family flapjack fundraiser Jan. 20

NEW PALESTINE – Join a free pancake breakfast fundraiser in honor of the Mitchell family.

The Mitchell Family Flapjack Fiesta will be 8:30-11:30 a.m. Jan. 20 at Zion Lutheran Church and School, 6513 W. 300S., New Palestine.

GOP to host seminar

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County Republican Party will host a Campaign Fundraising Seminar in January.

The event, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 20, will be at Brandywine Community Church, 1551 W. New Road, Greenfield. The event is open to office holders, candidates, future candidates, campaign chairmen, precinct committeemen and vice committeemen.

Participants will hear from David Elsner, chairman of the Marion County Republican Party and Indy GOP on “What is a Republican.” Also speaking is Megan Umlauf with Cardinal Contact Consulting on developing fundraising plans.
