GREENFIELD AND FORMERLY OF DECATUR COUNTY
Trudy Ann (Moore) Gordon, age 94 passed away peacefully on December 16, 2023 at her home in Greenfield. She was a former 65+ year resident of Decatur County.
Trudy was born at home in Decatur County on December 1, 1929 to her parents, the late Walter T. and Edith (Murphy) Moore. She was a 1947 graduate of Greensburg High School and went on to marry William “Bill” H. Gordon on October 18, 1949 at the Springhill Presbyterian Church in Decatur County. Together they settled in Fugit Township and were blessed with three children, Ruthanne, Paul and Ken. Bill preceded her in death in 2008 after 58 loving and devoted years of marriage.
Trudy retired from Union Bank and Trust in Greensburg after 34 years of service. She and her husband, Bill, also farmed for more than 40 years before retiring and moving to Greenfield. After moving to Greenfield in 1995, Trudy worked for Ameriana Bank, Hancock County Public Library and later for the Cracker Barrel store.
She was a lifelong member of the Springhill Presbyterian Church in Decatur County and the Tri Kappa Sorority. Trudy was an avid sports fan and followed both college and professional basketball and football, with the Purdue Boilermakers, Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Pacers being her favorite teams. She enjoyed watching cardinals and hummingbirds at her feeders as well as tending to her flowers, cucumber and tomato plants. Trudy savored her time in the kitchen, cooking her delicious scratch noodles and baking homemade dinner rolls for her family. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She will be missed by her children, Ruthanne (Jeff) Sullivan of Indianapolis, Paul (Ginny) Gordon of Greenfield, and Ken (Cheryl) Gordon of Plain City, Ohio; grandchildren, Alex (Keely) Gordon of Atlanta, Brian Gordon of Greenfield, Justin (Krissy) Sullivan of Plainfield, Suzanne (Bill) Moyer of Morgantown, Ryan (Tania) Sullivan of Columbia, Missouri, Kelsey Gordon of Barrow, Alaska, Caitlin Sullivan of Silver Spring, Maryland and Abby Gordon of Delaware, Ohio; 8 great grandchildren with one on the way as well as several nieces and nephews.
Trudy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill Gordon; brother, Bob Moore; sister, Margaret “Margie” Power and brother-in-law, Roy Gordon and sister-in-law, Edna Tilley.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 21st at 1 p.m. at Springhill Presbyterian Church: 3954 E. County Road 640 N. in Greensburg. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown.
