It was all Eastern Hancock from start to finish in Tuesday’s 65-26 Mid-Eastern Conference boys basketball victory at Randolph Southern.

The Royals led 19-2 after the first break and 37-7 at the half.

By early second half, Eastern Hancock had a 35-point lead and running-clock rules.

All nine Eastern Hancock players that played scored.

Kayden Ruble led all scorers with 17 points. Caiden Willis added 10. Eli Manship and Luke Morris scored eight apiece.

Eastern Hancock improved to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in the MEC. Randolph Southern dropped to 1-5 and 1-1.

The Royals are off until a Jan. 5 MEC game at home against Class 2A No. 1 Wapahani (7-0, 1-0).

Girls basketball

Cougars win fourth straight

Greenfield-Central’s girls basketball team won for the fourth straight time by defeating host Connersville 57-38 Tuesday.

Greenfield-Central (10-3) took control early with a 12-9 first-quarter lead. The Cougars led 25-16 at the half and 41-27 after three.

Four players scored in double figures. Chaney Brown had a double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds. Madison Sonsini scored 16 points. Izzy Silcox and Brooklyn McConnell each had 13 points. All of McConnell’s points came in the second half.

Connersville dropped to 8-6.

Greenfield-Central is back in action December 27 against Mooresville (12-2) at 6 p.m. in Lebanon Bloom Bank Classic.

Dragons lose to No. 1 Lawrence Central

The New Palestine girls basketball team lost to Class 4A No. 1 Lawrence Central 77-26, at Lawrence Central, Tuesday.

Allie Blum led New Palestine scorers with 10 points. Natalie Sevier and Kendra Moore had four points each.

Lawrence Central improved to 13-1.

New Palestine (6-8) travels to Southport (1-10) Thursday.

Girls swimming

Dragons win big in Shelbyville

New Palestine’s girls swimming and diving team swept relays and won five other events in a 119-46 victory at Shelbyville Tuesday.

To start the meet, Arianna Tull, Piper Schaefer, Isabelle Singer and Emily Appleby won the 200-yard medley relay (2:20.86).

Lillie Abernathy, Appleby, Chloe Siler and Sullie Leavell won the 200 freestyle relay (1:50.93). To close out the night, Siler, Cadyn Brown, Abernathy and Leavell won the 400 freestyle relay (4:10.18).

Siler added individual wins in the 50 freestyle (25.90 seconds) and 100 freestyle (59.27). Abernathy won the 100 breaststroke (1:17.97) and Leavell took top honors in the 100 butterfly (1:10.42).

Isabelle Tull won the 1-meter diving competition with 188.95 points.

Boys swimming

New Pal wins 10 of 12 events at Shelbyville

New Palestine’s boys swimming and diving team swept the relay races and won 10 of 12 events in a convincing 134-46 victory at Shelbyville Tuesday.

Opening with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay (1:47.88) from Dawson Lynch, Aidan Kingery, Reese Cox and Liam Fuller, the Dragons added a win the 200 freestyle relay (1:37.66) with Lynch, Kingery, Fuller and Dontae Thompson and closed the night with a 400 freestyle relay (3:40.08) triumph from the group of James Watson, Fuller, Karter McNeil and Thompson.

Blake Hurst won the 200 IM (2:20.30) and 100 breaststroke (1:08.43). Other individual winners were McNeil (200 freestyle, 2:00.31), Thompson (100 freestyle, 52.79 seconds), Watson (500 freestyle, 5:30.10), Lynch (100 backstroke, 59.57) and Cade Rodgers (1-meter diving, 171.20 points).
