GREENFIELD
Lewis Ralph Ebbert, known to some as Lewie, age 70, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born in Shirley, Indiana on January 3, 1953 to Ralph and Charlotte (Mummert) Rumple. Lewie graduated from Eastern Hancock High School in 1971. He married Jill Ann (Jones) Ebbert on April 7, 1972.
For more than 28 years, he worked for Eli Lilly as a senior technician before retiring in 2008. Mr. Ebbert was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, the Kiwanis Club of Greenfield, the NRA, and often volunteered at the Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and fixing things, as he was quite the handyman.
Lewis is survived by his wife, Jill Ann Ebbert of Greenfield; daughter, Amanda (Kathryn Johnson) Ebbert of Seattle, Washington; brothers, Martin (Pam) Ebbert of Shirley, IN and Randy (Kris) Ebbert of Knightstown, IN; sister, Anita Wallace of Spiceland, IN; and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Charlotte; and sister, Beverly Riddle.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary and Crematory, 1484 W U.S. Hwy 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at the mortuary on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Father Aaron Jenkins will be officiating.
