Calendars a fundraiser for history group

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County Historical Society has 2024 calendars available, featuring “rare and carefully colorized pictures from Hancock County and our artifact collections.”

The calendars are available as a fundraiser for the group. Cost is $20 at the Hancock Health gift shop, located in the main lobby of Hancock Regional Hospital, 801 N. State St., Greenfield. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Hancock County Historical Society is a nonprofit organization that collects, preserves and interprets the history of the county. This year’s calendar commemorates the 60th anniversary of the society.

Theater to host annual Christmas show

GREENFIELD – The Friends of the Theater will host its annual Christmas at the Ricks event at 7 p.m. Dec. 16 at downtown Greenfield’s H.J. Ricks Centre for the Arts.

This year’s featured artist is violinist Cathy Morris. The fundraising talent show also features local performing artists with cash prizes. Groups or individuals wishing to audition can submit a 3-5 minute video; deadline is Nov. 25.

Homemakers host free Christmas movie event

GREENFIELD – A free Christmas movie night for the community is coming up Dec. 13 at the H.J. Ricks Centre for the Arts.

The Hancock County Extension Homemakers are hosting “Home Alone 2” at 6 p.m. followed by “White Christmas.” The theater is located at 122 W. Main St., Greenfield.

Book club seeks new members

GREENFIELD – The Cosmopolitan Club of Greenfield is seeking new members.

The women’s book club has long been affiliated with the Chautauqua Scientific and Literary Circle. The greenfield club, an early “daughter Chautauqua,” has been in continuous operation since October 1894.

The club reads primarily non-fiction books once a month, six months of the year. It meets at 1 p.m. on a designated Friday. To learn more about joining, email [email protected].
