GREENFIELD – Thanksgiving was a bit magical this year for 85 Greenfield-Central students and their chaperones.
Greenfield-Central High School’s band program went to Walt Disney World and Universal Studios in Florida the week of Thanksgiving. Mostly high school students attended, while some eighth grade marchers also joined in with 16 band parents and three staff members.
Two buses transported the group to Florida, where they started with a trip to Universal Studios on Nov. 22. Thanksgiving Day was spent at Disney’s Magic Kingdom.
They spent Nov. 24 at Disney’s EPCOT, which included a Disney Soundtrack Sessions workshop. Student musicians experienced what a Disney symphony would go through both for a live performance, and working on scoring a film. The students sight-read several pieces and also worked with a film playback.
Their final day was at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, followed by a drive back to Greenfield.
