KNIGHTSTOWN
Carl E. Spence, 85, of Knightstown, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at his residence. He was born October 25, 1938 in Lewis County, KY a son of Orville and Maymie (Fraley) Spence.
Carl retired from the State of Indiana in maintenance in 2005. He was previously employed at Alsta Container in Carthage for 33 years. He and his wife, Nadine, moved from Carthage to the Knightstown area in 1999. Carl was an avid bee keeper and sold honey to many community customers. People loved his whipped, seasoned honey.
He is survived by two sons, DeWayne (Mary) Spence and Randy (Jo Anna) Spence; grandchildren, Holly Spence (Christine Damron), Daniel (Ashley) Spence, Justin (Katie) Spence and Ashley (Jacob) Martin; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Molly Musgrave, Betty Logan, Pearl (Gerald) Miller, Gay (Jim) Johnson, Judy (Gerry) Graham; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Spence in 2017; a brother, Marvin Spence; a sister, Ruby Zornes; and 2 brothers-in-law, Harlan Logan and Lon Zornes.
Services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, November 20, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Condolences and memories of Carl may be shared at www.hinsey-brown.com.
