Staff report

New Palestine girls basketball player Allie Blum had a career-high 36 points, including four 3-pointers and 12 of 15 from the free-throw line, in Thursday’s 84-57 loss at Warren Central (2-3).

Blum’s 36 are tied for most by a New Palestine player in a regulation game, equaling the amount of Sarah (Haynes) Gizzi in 1993. The school record for most points in a game was achieved by Isabella Gizzi. She scored 40 points in an overtime contest at Southport in 2021.

On Wednesday, at home, New Palestine lost 59-44 to Franklin Central.

In the loss to Franklin Central (2-2), the Dragons welcomed the return of senior Vivian Miller, who had been out since an injury suffered during soccer season.

Miller was one of two double-figure scorers for the Dragons. She had 10 points. Blum had a team-high 12.

The Flashes were able to pull away from a close game by outscoring the Dragons 39-28 in the second half.

New Palestine (2-3) returns to action Tuesday at Rushville (2-1).
