Eastern Hancock improved to 4-0 overall and won its Mid-Eastern Conference opener 67-25 at Union (Modoc) Tuesday.

Ranked No. 4 in the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association Class 2A girls basketball poll, the Royals scored 29 points in the first quarter and led 45-13 at halftime.

Freshman Kenzie Koch led Eastern Hancock scorers with 18 points. She added seven steals. Ruby White had 10 points. Makenzie O’Neal had eight points and a team-high four assists. Nine different players scored.

Eastern Hancock (4-0, 1-0) plays host to MEC foe Cowan (0-5, 0-1) Thursday.

G-C defeats Richmond

Greenfield-Central’s girls basketball team won for the third straight time and fourth time in five outings with a 41-34 victory over visiting Richmond Tuesday.

Up 19-13 at halftime, the Cougars extended their lead over the Red Devils to double figures after three quarters, 30-15.

Chaney Brown led G-C with 18 points and three rebounds. She was 2 of 2 from the 3-point line. Freshman Izzy Silcox hit 3 of 7 from 3, finishing with 9 points. Madi Sonsini had nine points and nine rebounds.

Greenfield-Central (4-1) opens Hoosier Heritage Conference play Friday at Pendleton Heights (3-1, 1-0).
