GREENFIELD – The Rotary Club of Greenfield continued its cherished tradition of Apple Day recently, delivering an apple to every school staff member in Greenfield.

The annual event honors the legacy of the late Rotarian Jeff Harris by delivering an apple to Greenfield-Central and St. Michael’s school teachers and staff members. This year’s Apple Day was made possible through a donation of apples by Leo’s Market and Eatery.

Apple Day was established as a symbol of the club’s commitment to education and its support for the hard-working educators in the community. It was inspired by the late Jeff Harris, a dedicated Rotarian who valued education and community service. Each year, Rotarians visit every school in the district to personally deliver apples, showing appreciation for the educators who shape the future of local children.

“Apple Day is more than a tradition; it’s a symbol of our respect and gratitude for educators,” said Derek Rogers, president of the Rotary Club, in a press release. “We are delighted to have Leo’s Market & Eatery join us in this annual gesture of appreciation. It’s a simple act, but it carries a significant message of support and recognition for the invaluable role teachers and staff play in our community.”

The club invites the community to join in celebrating Apple Day by sharing their own tokens of appreciation for educators; local businesses and individuals are also encouraged to get involved in future community service projects.
