Montessori Academy to host open house

MCCORDSVILLE – Geist Montessori Academy will host a community open house from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 14 at 6058 W. 900N., McCordsville.

The tuition-free public charter school is for students in grades kindergarten through eighth, with a pre-K opinion available. The event will feature tours, presentations and meetings with staff.

PTO to host skate event

NEW CASTLE – The Eastern Hancock Parent Teacher Organization will host a Skate Night from 6-8 p.m. Nov. 14 at The Rink, 406 N. Memorial Drive, New Castle. Cost is $2 per person, with skate rental $3.

Pie auction to raise money for EH

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Crafters, quilters, knitters, bakers and Eastern Hancock supporters are sought to help with an upcoming Eastern Hancock Education Foundation Auction.

The annual EHEF Pie Auction is coming up Dec. 15 during the home varsity basketball game. The foundation is taking donations of baked goods, homemade pies, candy, craft/homemade items, theme baskets and gift certificates. Donations may be dropped off in room 706 of Eastern Hancock Middle School by Dec. 14. Career center to host open house

NEW CASTLE – The New Castle Career Center is hosting an open house from 6:30-8 p.m. Nov. 30.

The center currently enrolls more than 500 students representing Eastern Hancock, New Castle, Tri, Knightstown, Hagerstown, Shenandoah, Union and Blue River Valley high schools. Students can learn about broadcasting, commercial drivers licenses, culinary arts, cosmetology, education, engineering, health science, machine trades, supply chain/logistics, welding and more. There are various locations for the open house, depending on the program: Health Education is at The Danielson Center, 300 Trojan Lane, New Castle; Building Trades is at the current job site, 1623 D. Ave., New Castle; Broadcasting is at Knightstown High School, 8149 U.S. 40, Knightstown; all other programs at New Castle High School, 801 Parkview Drive, New Castle (enter through Door 7).

Financial aid meetings coming in new year

HANCOCK COUNTY – Support for graduating high school students and adult learners will be available in upcoming workshops about financial aid for higher education.

FAFSA Days will be in January at local high schools and in March at the Hancock County Public Library.

The Community Foundation of Hancock County announced the events along with INvestED and Hancock County LINK. A FAFSA event is scheduled for 2:30-6:30 0p.m. Jan. 9 at Greenfield-Central High School; 2:30-7 p.m. Jan. 17 at Mt. Vernon High School; 4-7 p.m. Jan. 23 at Eastern Hancock High School; and 2:30-7 p.m. Jan. 30 at New Palestine High School. There will also be an event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 2 at the main branch of the HCPL in Greenfield.

Immunization clinic Nov. 30

GREENFIELD – A community immunization clinic is coming up from 3-6 p.m. Nov. 30.

The event will be at Greenfield-Central High School, 810 N. Broadway St., Greenfield. Registration can be completed at patients.vaxcare.com/registration with enrollment code IN65942, select Greenfield Central HS-11/30. Walk-ins are also welcome. Bring immunization records and insurance cards.

All who participate in the clinic will be vaccinated with all CDC-recommended vaccines; the state immunization registry will be consulted to assess the immunization needs of each individual. Those who would like to refuse a specific vaccine should contact the Indiana Immunization Coalition at least 48 hours prior to the event at [email protected].
