Harvest Feast coming in Shirley
SHIRLEY — The annual Harvest Feast and Marketplace are set for 4-7 p.m. Saturday at Shirley Park Shelter House, 210 S. Second St.
This is the second year for the event, launched in 2022 by the women’s group of Shirley-Wilkinson Community United Methodist Church.
Chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, dinner roll, dessert and drink will be available for $12.
Booth space is available at a cost of $10 for one eight-foot table. Those interested can comment on the post about the event on the church’s Facebook page.
St. John plans bazaar

Hope Encounter highlights ways to help children in need
FORTVILLE — The churches of Fortville Christians Unite are working with Hands of Hope to bring the latter’s Hope Encounter to the area. It’s set for 6:30 p.m. Monday at Mercy Road Church Northeast in Fortville.
The event features personal stories from Hoosiers — someone who spent time in foster care growing up, or someone with firsthand experience of adoption, or someone who’s sought to care for families welcoming children in need.
Afterward, organizations that serve vulnerable children will have information booths about ways to help. The participating churches will provide snacks. There’ll be information on adopting and serving as foster parents. There will also be details on other ways to help, such as helping out foster families with meals.
Thanksgiving service set in Wilkinson
WILKINSON — Community Ministerial Alliance, a group of Shirley and Wilkinson-area churches, will have a community Thanksgiving service at 6 p.m. Nov. 19 at Wilkinson Church of Christ, 7293 N. State Road 109.
The Rev. Jim Jackson, pastor of Shirley Friends Church, will be the speaker.
The Community Ministerial Alliance sponsors annual Thanksgiving and Good Friday services.
The group typically rotates locations for these community services. Pastors from the churches involved take turns delivering the sermon. Other churches often offer some other part of the service, such as a song or a poem.
Participating churches are Christ Fellowship Church, Grant City Wesleyan Church, Shirley Friends Church, Shirley Church of the Nazarene, Shirley-Wilkinson Community United Methodist Church, Warrington Church of the Nazarene and Wilkinson Church of Christ. You do not have to attend one of those churches to go to the service.
Workshop focuses on antiracism work
NEW PALESTINE — Charla Yearwood will lead a workshop, “It’s Me. I’m the Problem: The Role of Personal Reflection in Antiracism Work” at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cross of Grace Lutheran Church, 3519 S. County Road 600W, New Palestine. Yearwood is founder and CEO of Connected in Community. She is part of the Advancing Racial Equity Speakers Bureau through Indiana Humanities.
The church will also play host to “Interrupting Racism for Children” from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 18, with meals and refreshments provided. Young people ages 14-19 will gather “to be enlightened about race, racism and racial justice in our culture,” reads a flyer about the event, “and they will be inspired and educated about ways to stop it.” Cost is $25; grants and scholarships are available.

Ladies’ Conference begins today
GREENFIELD — The Set Free Ladies’ Conference will be Friday and Nov. 11 at Apostolic Pentecostal Church, 1202 E. Fifth St., Greenfield.
Keynote speaker DeAnna Sibley of Castroville, Texas, will share a service at 7:30 p.m. Friday (Nov. 10) and after the breakout session that takes place at 10 a.m. Saturday. The speaker for the breakout session is Tina Royer of Rio Linda, California.

Craft bazaar, breakfast coming Saturday
FORTVILLE — Youth of Fortville Church of the Nazarene are sponsoring a Christmas Craft Fair and breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Bazaargoers can have breakfast and shop for homemade crafts, Christmas crafts, Christmas decorations and more.

Wellspring Center works to ‘Fill the Barn’
GREENFIELD — Wellspring Center is having a “Fill the Barn” effort over the next week to grow its inventory to fill the new barn where the center’s food pantry is housed.
Those interested in giving are welcome to drop off donations at the center, on the campus of Brandywine Community Church, 1551 E. New Road, Greenfield.
Wellspring leaders said items that would be particularly useful include powdered milk, salt and pepper — items that help complete a meal. Paper towels and toilet paper are useful donations, too. Also, some food pantry guests are homeless, so pantry leaders want to be able to offer hand-held can openers and sandwich-size zip bags for storage.
Medicare seminar is Monday
GREENFIELD — A free seminar outlining Medicare eligibility and plans is set for 6 p.m. Monday at Curry’s Chapel Church, 3488 N. County Road 375E.
A light meal will be provided.
